World-famous and a place where jazz, pop and rock legends all come together: that’s Montreux Jazz Festival. Held every year in July, this two-week festival is a must for music fans. Chillon Castle
Mystical, almost magical, Chillon Castle stands on a rocky island around three kilometers from Montreux. This is one of Switzerland’s most popular destinations for excursions and full of history. You can explore the castle at your own pace or on a guided tour followed by a wine tasting, for example. Booking online in advance is recommended.
Around Montreux
From Montreux, take the cogwheel railway up to the Rochers-de-Naye, where you can enjoy sensational views of the Swiss and French Alps. Or make the short trip to Vevey and experience the special flair of the “Swiss Riviera”, as this area is known. You can also experience this flair on a drive along the terraced vineyards of Lavaux, the largest contiguous wine-growing region in Switzerland and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
