The Niederhorn lies above Beatenberg at just under 2000 m above sea level and is a popular excursion destination, even from Thun. The view of the surrounding mountains - including the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau - is fantastic. At any time of year.
Niederhorn at a glance
The Niederhorn lies on the northern shore of Lake Thun in the Bernese Oberland. It is Beatenberg's local mountain. The Niederhorn cable car takes you from Beatenbucht to the Niederhorn in 30 minutes.
Hiking, orienteering, scooter biking and wildlife spotting: There is a lot to experience on the Niederhorn. The fantastic view of the spectacular peaks of the Bernese Alps alone is worth the trip. You can see the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and the other surrounding mountain peaks as well as Lake Thun. On clear days, you can see as far as the Jura and Aare valley.
