Intro

Le Vitromusée Romont rend hommage à Max Löw (1910–1994) grâce à la récente donation de ses héritiers de 970 peintures sous verre au musée.

Starting from 1953 and for nearly half a century, swisstopo engraved its original maps in a layer of colored lacquer on glass plates. The desire for absolute precision with reasonable workload has influenced the thinking of technicians and decision-makers. The joint exhibition of the Vitromusée Romont and the Federal Office of Topography swisstopo presents the history of the last cartographic craftsmanship through numerous engraved glass plates and working instruments.
