Why is this region called Jura & Three-Lakes? It’s very simple. The region is in the heart of the Jura and takes its name from the three large lakes surrounding them: Lake Neuchâtel, Lake Biel/Bienne and Lake Murten/Morat.

Dash up the winding trails Leg 1: The summit of the Chasseral
A trail-running enthusiast
Clément spends his free time running on trails across the entire region. For him, there’s nothing better than a bit of exercise right in the heart of nature. And the icing on the cake: the breathtaking views he is rewarded with when reaching a summit…
There’s an otherworldly atmosphere this morning, with the fog racing over the mountain peaks and a few drops falling. Just enough to create a rainbow before the fog finally clears and the sun comes through. The air is pure, and the dew on the grass is glistening. These are the perfect conditions for Clément’s morning trail run. The winding trails of the Jura, renowned for their variety and steep gradients, offer up a unique terrain. In particular, the area around the Chasseral, the highest point in the Jura, is a real treat for mountain runners. As Clément’s run hits its final stages, Capucine’s adventure is just beginning.
Hurtle down the steep slopes Leg 2: Twann Forest
A fan of mountain-biking
Capucine discovered mountain biking a few years ago. Since then, she’s never wanted to stop. As soon as she hits the slopes, she wants to push her limits even further. Each time that she goes out on her bike, it re-energises her all over again. Whether it’s avoiding tree trunks or weaving between rocks, all the while staying balanced and keeping her speed up, mountain biking is a real challenge!
Discovering a variety of landscapes, enjoying yourself on the rocky trails and taking on breathtaking downhill rides: these are just some experiences that you can enjoy on a mountain bike in the Jura & Three Lakes region, where mountain-biking adventures know no limits. One captivating destination is the picturesque area around Twann, a village on the shore of Lake Biel/Bienne. The trails start deep in a dense forest, where the breathtaking views are hidden by the trees. For this adventure, you must first head into the woods and start your descent. After just a few bends, the landscape changes dramatically. The forest transforms into vineyards, and the view opens up. The forest transforms into vineyards, and the view opens up. Capucine sees many people enjoying their hobby on the water. With a bit of luck and on a clear day, you can even see as far as the Alps.
Glide over the surface of the lake Leg 3: Nidau and its beaches
A water sports fanatic
Lucas loves braving the lakes, no matter which sport it involves. Water is his element, and he feels more comfortable there than on dry land, just like a duck to water. He looks to glide quickly through the water, giving the impression he’s floating on the surface.
Paddling on a stand-up paddleboard gives you a feeling of freedom, and is an opportunity to let off some steam with a soothing yet stimulating activity. The three big lakes in the region (Lake Neuchâtel, Lake Biel/Bienne and Lake Murten/Morat), as well as the nearby rivers, provide an idyllic setting for this water sport. And for die-hard fans like Lucas, there’s even an opportunity to take part in stand-up paddleboarding races. It’s enough to get the hairs standing up on the back of your neck!
The wind picks up. Lucas doesn’t waste a second and immediately jumps on his wingfoil. He’s barely out of the water before the wind propels him across to the other side of the lake at high speed. This feeling of floating on the surface of the water is exactly what Lucas is looking for. Kitesurfing, wingfoiling and windsurfing are very popular in the region. Plenty of wind is being forecast over the next few days, so Lucas can’t wait to make use of this opportunity during his lunch breaks.
