Pneumonology
The lungs supply our bodies with the oxygen we need to live.
Pneumonology covers all of the diseases and conditions that affect the lungs and airways. These include asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary hypertension and cystic fibrosis. Sleep apnoea, as well as conditions caused by harmful substances in the air, are also treated as part of this specialty. Lung cancer is treated in close collaboration with oncology, radiology and thoracic surgery.
